Kevin falls in with the wrong crowd at the end of his junior year of high school at McKinley High in scenic Weatherville, California. A city kid from Chicago, he and his mother were forced to relocate to her hometown after his father’s death.
A late-night break-in at Tom’s dad’s office at LBDH starts a chain of events with Kevin at the center along with a strange boy who claims to be from the future. And what is with that talking calculator?
The Students
Kevin Winger
A typical high-school nerd who recently moved to Weatherville, CA from Chicago after the mysterious death of his father. Struggling to fit in, he gets mixed up in a series of events involving Land Beam Development Holdings, a device called Daedalus, and Julia, the head cheerleader.
Julia Delaney
A senior at McKinley High and head cheerleader. She has lived her entire life in Weatherville, near Redding California. Feeling trapped in this small town, she seeks to leave but her troublesome family life leaves her few options.
Adam Brodi
A senior and head of the McKinley football team, he is a loyal childhood friend to Julia. An aspiring journalist, he senses a story when he learns about the strange goings on at Land Beam.
Tom Davis
A senior at McKinley High, his interests lie in the math and sciences, driven by his controlling father, a manager at Land Beam Development Holdings.
Mallory Ricci
A senior and Italian exchange student, she started at McKinley after spending her previous year in Chicago. She seems determined to get into everyone's business.
Joan Hunter
She may be in a powered wheelchair, but she inherited her powerful personality from her celebrity scientist father. Kevin learns she has a soft side.
